THE 'GLOBISH' LANGUAGE
A trendy word that is used widely nowadays is the word ‘Globish’. But how many of you are aware of this definition? Although, the world is getting smaller and smaller due to the globalization, there are still too many languages used. This simple means unnecessary expense and time in translation, wasted time learning other languages, poor communication, cultural polarization and conflict.
Many non-English countries encourage study of English as a second language. Seventy percent of the Europeans are able to read English newspapers or watch TV news in English. And this is because its grammar is fairly simple but its spellings are irregular and difficult.
Many teachers, bosses and clients have rejected works and papers for spelling mistakes. And this is where the role of Globish language is required. The new language will also be based on English grammar and words, but with reformed simple spellings to match with standard pronunciations.
Written Globish will look different, for ease of identification but it will be based on familiar lines. Small letters will be used such as abcdef, without any capitals. Triple dots and not a single dot will be employed to indicate the end of the sentence.
A representative example of the Globish language is the following: The English version of the sentence ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’ in the Globish will be ‘e frend in nid iz a frend indid…’
In this way, an English teaching school will indirectly become Globish-teaching school, since students will have to merely recast spellings according to simple rules and use the language initially for informal work.
If people like this concept, they would develop and use Globish as a link language for general communication.
