The atmosphere is warm, professional and friendly, creating a positive environment for learning. We have five classrooms, a self-access area and computer training room, as well as a comfortable student cafe where many social events and parties are organised.

The Programmes

Our popular General and Intensive English Programmes take place Monday to Friday in separate groups for beginners to advanced level. Lessons are limited to 45 minutes each in order to maximise absorption ability. Students are encouraged to enter for the various Cambridge, TOEFL and IELTS examinations.

Teachers

Our fully qualified teachers are chosen for their personal qualities and experience. They are friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Most of them are well-travelled university graduates who can speak at least one foreign language so they know the problems that students face. All are university graduates with recognised teaching certificates and/or diplomas in TEFL.

Methodology

We facilitate learning through a variety of stimulating classroom activities, balancing a dynamic communicative approach and essential grammar with lessons designed to develop oral and listening skills, as well as reading and writing abilities. Students are also given regular homework and projects to be completed outside the classroom, allowing maximum speaking time in class. Individual learning plans are devised with our Director of Studies and reviewed regularly on all courses.

Individual Attention

Through our regular weekly staff meetings, we observe and monitor the performance of each individual student. Our regular progress tests at the end of each programme make sure that students advance steadily from one level to the next, so that they are well prepared for any exams that they wish to take. Students are encouraged to approach their teacher or the Director of Studies to discuss their academic needs.

General English

In these classes the emphasis is on communicative skills. The students in these classes receive a balanced blend of grammar, speaking, reading, writing and listening practice to improve their all-round ability. Many students start off in a Communicative English class before moving on to an examination class.

Conversational English Programme

Students are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of speaking practice in achieving greater levels of fluency. Studying grammar is pointless without having sufficient opportunity to use it in the spoken language. Our conversation programme is aimed at increasing the student?s confidence and active memory through rich and varied discussion around topic areas.

Self-Access Centre

Self-access forms an essential part of the programme. All students are allocated self-access time and are guided and monitored to maximise their progress. Our self-access centre is equipped with personal computers, software, listening materials, grammar exercises, authentic reading texts, and vocabulary building exercises, all carefully selected and graded to meet students' needs.

One-to-One Tuition

Individual tuition is a very time-efficient way of learning. The teacher is able to concentrate on your own personal development by identifying your weaknesses and creating a programme that targets them. In addition, talking time is very high and, although demanding, is highly effective. You will quickly notice the difference.

Certificates and Awards

All students who have satisfactorily completed a programme of study receive a college Certificate of Competence. In exceptional cases, students who have worked especially hard may receive a Letter of Commendation from the Principal.

Internship Programme

Designed for university level students with intermediate level English skills who have studied finance, marketing, law or international trade. 1 to 6 months with excellent employment opportunities for those students who wish to stay in London.

UK Hotel Training Programme

Improve your English and gain professional experience in a hotel or restaurant in the UK. The Hotel Training Programme will immerse you in English life and culture and is a valuable to anyone wishing to carry out business internationally in the future.

All catering establishments must pay the Minimum Wage to their members of staff.
All trainees will receive a minimum of £70 (net) per 40 hour week plus meals and accommodation.

Our small, friendly Institute is located in Bournemouth (Dorset), a pleasant seaside resort and university town on the South Coast of England. Within a few minutes walk of the Institute is the town centre and the beach. Bournemouth (population 155,000) is popular with both British and international visitors because of its pleasant climate, proximity to the sea and beautiful countryside, the port of Southampton in the county of Hampshire (48 km), the New Forest and Winchester with its ancient, famous cathedral. The town also has excellent shopping and entertainment facilities, including theatres and cinemas.

Methodology

Tuition takes place in small groups according to language level with personal attention from your class tutor. You learn to speak more fluently, using correct grammar, and to express more complex ideas using correct pronunciation, intonation and stress. There will be a number of workshops and research projects to inspire confidence in using English and expand vocabulary. Tutorials are held each week to help us guide your overall progress. The Institute also has its own modern computer laboratory as well as access to the reference and lending sections of Bournemouth College and Bournemouth University.

The General English programme consists of four lessons each day, designed to improve performance in all aspects of the English language. Others include: Business Foundation Programme (4 or 8 weeks), Teacher Refresher Programme (2 weeks).

Examination Preparation

Cambridge First Certificate in English (CFCE)

12 or 15 week programme starting in March/April and September/October. This programme provides international recognition of your competence in English for a variety of social and professional purposes.

Cambridge Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CCEIBT).

10 or 12 week programme starting in March and September. Supplementary programme for students on the CFCE or CCAE programmes.

Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CCAE)

15 or 18 week programme starting in March and September and providing a high level of recognition for those using English in their professional purposes or University entrance.

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CCPE)

15 or 18 week programme starting in March and September providing recognition of competence to teach English and for University entrance.

Visit London (2 hours) with all its attractions; Winchester cathedral with over 1000 years of history; Salisbury cathedral; Bath which is the most intact Roman town in Britain; the New Forest, just 15 minutes outside Bournemouth. Folkestone

Folkestone gets its name from the Anglo-Saxon Folcastan where St. Eanswythe founded her nunnery in 650AD.

West Folkestone is dominated by the finest promenade in Europe, The Leas where you can enjoy magnificent views over the English Channel to France. Below the promenarde is Lower Leas Coastal Park, the South East’s best free park where open-air concerts take place in the amphitheatre during the summer. The leas lift, one of the oldest water-balanced lifts in England, transports visitors up and down the cliff.  East Folkestone’ main attractions are the picturesque harbor, the sunny sands beach and the Warren, a superb nature reserve.

There is also a concert hall, Internet cafes, art gallery, museum, cinema, sports centre, gyms, parks and many restaurants, pubs and night clubs.

The Institute

The school is located right in the centre of Folkestone. All the town's amenities are within walking distance. We are 1hr 20 min away from London and 35 min. by boat to France.We offer more than 20 different courses in English for specific purposes, which allow us to attract a wide variety of students and we use state of the art teaching methods and materials.

Quality Assurance: small class size of 12 General English and 6 for professional and some specific programmes.

Class management: Each class is made up of similar language levels which are decided through tests undertaken by students upon their arrival. Students may be placed in a lower level grammar class if their knowledge of grammar is weak and a higher level skills class if they have a better ability to communicate in English.

Social Programme

We believe that student participation in a variety of recreational and cultural activities is central to a positive experience in the school.

Various cultural and recreational activities are organized on a regular basis with the participation of school staff. The activities will depend upon the number of participants and places may be limited on some activities, students should therefore sign-up early. Students are responsible for any extra fees.

The school's activities programme is carefully chosen to give balance of culture, sightseeing and social events.

This wide range of supervised activities are designed to encourage further English practice, in the evenings and at weekends. Some are organized by the schools, others are organized by reliable and experienced tour-guides.

Weekend excursions: Day trips, overnight stays or even whole weekend visits with accommodation are arranged to major tourist destinations such as London, Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Edinburgh. We also may organize day or weekend trips to Paris, Disney Land Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.

Deposit and Payment

The minimum deposit required to secure a place at the School is 40% of the total invoice.

Full payment must be made at least 4 weeks prior to the student's  in residence at the accommodation arranged by the school or upon attendance at a class session at the school.

Visa

Students who require a Visa to enter England must attend a course of at least 15 hours of instruction per week. Europeans from non-member EEC countries must also attend a course of at least 15 hours.
